What is
Breast cancer

Breast cancer is a disease where cells in the breast grow uncontrollably, forming a lump or tumor. It usually begins in the milk ducts or glands and can spread to other body parts if untreated. Early detection and treatment greatly improve the chances of survival and recovery.

know the
symptoms

Common symptoms of breast cancer include a painless lump or thickening in the breast or underarm, changes in breast size or shape, dimpling of the skin, redness, or scaling. Other signs include nipple pain, discharge, or inversion. Any unusual breast changes should be checked by a healthcare professional.

assess
your risk

lower your risk of breast cancer by living a healthy lifestyle—eat balanced meals, exercise regularly, maintain a healthy weight, and limit alcohol. Avoid smoking, go for regular checkups, and know your family history. Most importantly, practice self-breast exams and seek medical help for any unusual changes early.

we’re here
for you

Through education, healthcare, and pastoral accompaniment, we affirm the dignity of every woman as a beloved daughter of God.

Akumi4Christ: Answering the Call to Heal and Empower

Akumi4Christ is the mission of Rev. Sister Grace Akunna John-Emezi, a dedicated healthcare administrator and advocate.

Witnessing the tragic impact of late-stage breast cancer, she was moved to act. Now, she travels to parishes, schools, and villages as a messenger of hope, equipping women with life-saving knowledge and ensuring no woman faces this battle alone. Her work is a powerful ministry of presence, education, and unwavering faith.

Mission

To extend Christ's healing love by creating awareness on breast cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment.

Vision

A future where knowledge, faith, and compassion ensure no woman dies in silence or ignorance from breast cancer.

Rooted in Faith, Trained to Heal

Raised in the Archdiocese of Owerri and formed in the Congregation of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ), Rev. Sr. Grace Akunna John-Emezi built a career in nursing and hospital administration, serving across Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya.

Her front-line encounters with women who arrived too late for care ignited the Akumi4Christ mission—to bring faith-rooted education, early detection, and compassionate support to every community she reaches.
